a new play infused with original music, devised movement, and daring choreography

The Frantic Method

When directing For Such a Time as This, I utilized The Frantic Assembly’s Frantic Method for devising theatre.

The Frantic Method relies on building blocks of ideas on top of one another, so the performance blooms and grows throughout the rehearsal period.

As the director, my job was to free the actors to play, take risks, and try new things by acting as an outside objective influence.

This video was taken in our first rehearsal. Utilizing warm-ups and exercises for individual and group development created a strong foundation for the ensemble to showcase innovative acting choices.

kinetic storytelling

Using the Frantic Method, we were able to create a base of choreography which was polished by our choreography captain.

We created powerful, dynamic scenes utilizing movement and choreography to amplify the text.
